A Simple guide from the mentor team at Arivu Skills, Koramangala, Bengaluru.
Most people who walk into our office asking about a business analytics course in Bangalore
have one honest question behind all the others: “Am I eligible, and will this actually get me a
job?”
This guide answers that. It covers who can join, what you will study module by module, what it
costs, how offline and live online classes differ, and where our students have been hired.
Everything here reflects the programme we actually run, not a generic brochure written to
sound impressive.
First, Lets understand what is business analytics?
Business analytics is the skill of using company data to answer business questions and improve
decisions.
A simple example. A retail chain sees sales dropping. A business analyst pulls the sales data,
breaks it down by store, product and month, spots that one region fell 30% after a competitor
opened nearby, and recommends a pricing change. The tools do the calculation. The analyst
frames the question, checks the numbers and explains the decision.
That is why business analytics sits so close to the business side. You are not just producing
charts. You are the person in the room who can say what the numbers mean.

Eligibility: who can join a business analytics course?
The entry bar is deliberately low, because analytics is a skill that people from any background
can learn.
You are eligible if you have:
- Any graduation stream: BCom, BBA, BA, BSc, engineering, MBA, or a diploma
- Basic computer comfort and school-level maths
- Three to four hours a week for practice outside class
You do not need: - A coding background. Business analytics at Arivu Skills is built around Excel, Power BI
and Tableau, all of which are point-and-click tools. - Prior work experience. Final-year students join every batch.
- A statistics degree. We teach the concepts you need, in the order you need them.
Course modules: what you will actually learn
The programme is built on the three tools that appear in almost every business analyst job
description in India. You learn them in this order because each one sets up the next.
Tool 1: Excel with AI Integration
Excel is the tool a manager will put in front of you on day one of a job.
- Module 1. Data management in Excel: data cleaning and preparation, removing
duplicates, handling missing data, managing large datasets with freeze panes and filters,
advanced filtering and sorting, Excel tables and structured references - Module 2. Data analysis and charting: PivotTables and pivot charts, slicers and
timelines for dynamic filtering, waterfall, funnel and combo charts, conditional
formatting with colour scales and icons - Module 3. Excel formulas: IF, AND, OR for decision logic; VLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH,
XLOOKUP for lookups; SUM, AVERAGE, COUNTIF, STDEV for statistics; CONCATENATE,
LEFT, RIGHT, DATE, NOW for text and dates - Module 4. Data validation and what-if analysis: drop-down lists and entry rules,
named ranges, data tables for scenario analysis, Scenario Manager and Goal Seek - Module 5. Dashboard creation and consolidation: merging data from multiple
sources, building interactive dashboards, and a final project where you build a complete
dashboard yourself
Tool 2: Power BI
The reporting tool most Indian companies have standardised on.
- Module 1. Introduction: Power BI Desktop and its interface, importing and
transforming data from different sources, basic data modelling with relationships and
calculated columns, publishing reports to Power BI Service - Module 2. Transformation and advanced modelling: Power Query Editor, DAX for
calculated columns and measures, time intelligence functions, complex relationships
and model optimisation - Module 3. Visualisations and reports: bar, line, pie and combo charts, customising
visuals for interactive dashboards, slicers, filters, advanced formatting, multi-page
reports - Module 4. Power BI Service and sharing: publishing dashboards, collaborating with
stakeholders, scheduled data refresh, workspaces and security permissions - Module 5. Advanced features and case studies: integrating Power BI with Excel and
other sources, the Power BI API, custom visuals, plus a hands-on project and case
studies
Tool 3: Tableau
- Module 1. Basics: Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server, why visualisation matters in
business analytics, connecting to Excel, CSV and databases, bar charts, line graphs and
scatter plots - Module 2. Intermediate techniques: heatmaps, box plots and treemaps, customising
with colours, labels and annotations, data blending and joins across sources, interactive
dashboards with actions and filters - Module 3. Advanced analytics: calculated fields and parameters including IF
statements and LOD expressions, forecasting models, geographic mapping, seasonality
and trend analysis - Module 4. Data storytelling and presentation: structuring a narrative, story points
and annotations, communicating insights to non-technical stakeholders, presenting
findings clearly and confidently - Module 5. Tableau Server and collaboration: publishing and sharing workbooks,
managing users and permissions, comments, subscriptions and alerts
Alongside the tools, every batch gets soft skills and communication training. In business
analytics this is not optional. Your recommendation is only as good as your ability to explain it
in a meeting.

Business analytics certification: what you receive
Two certificates come out of this programme, and they do different jobs.
1. Arivu Skills certification. Issued to every student, and verifiable through the
certificate verifier on our website. Whether it says Certificate of Merit or Certificate of
Participation depends on your score.
2. IBM certification. Included in the Standard plan. This is the one recruiters recognise
instantly, and it is the reason most of our students choose Standard.
How you are assessed ?
We do not leave the assessment to the last week.
- Every week: a mock test
- Every week: assignments
- End of programme: viva or exam
- End of programme: a project
1) Score above 80% and you receive a Certificate of Merit. Score 80% or below and you receive a
Certificate of Participation.
2) A certificate opens a door. Your dashboard projects and your ability to explain them get you

advance.
